The rabbit brain is similar to other rodent brains, but it has some interesting differences, such as the size of the third ventricle. Until now, it hasn’t been mapped in such detail as is common, for example, with mice or rats. How is such mapping done? It’s a long process that requires comparing brain structures across different rodents, as well as with the human brain. However, the result may not be entirely accurate, so the emerging atlas needs continuous refinement.
Why is this useful? The University of Florence needs such an atlas to continue its research on obesity, which is being compared in humans and rabbits. Rabbits are also prone to obesity, and it would be interesting to understand what impact this has on the brain.
The workshop will be conducted in English and will be led by Mgr. Martin Kocourek, Ph.D. from Third Faculty of Medicine CU.
