UP Arts Centre – Konvikt (Faculties of Arts and Education)

A Baroque building of the former Jesuit Convict from the 16th century. One of the historically oldest parts of Palacký University, transformed into a modern academic environment and the heart of cultural life in Olomouc after a generous reconstruction in 2002. Today, it houses departments of the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Arts.

A hub for teaching art history, film and theatre studies, television studies, music education, musicology, and visual arts. This extensive complex, rich in historical significance, includes lecture halls, studios, film and theatre spaces, as well as one of the best-preserved heritage sites in the Czech Republic—the atmospheric Chapel of Corpus Christi. In the courtyard stands the Celestial Globe, a work by blacksmith artist Alfréd Habermann.

The home base for creative student organizations such as Pastiche Filmz and StuArt, the ATENEO choir, the Reactor project, and the student radio UP AIR. A key venue for the Academia Film Olomouc (AFO) festival and the Festival of Film Animation and Contemporary Art (PAF), as well as the renowned Divadelní Flora and the MusicOlomouc festival.

Such is, in brief, the Artistic Centre of Palacký University. Not only a place for contemporary teaching and research set in captivating historical surroundings, but also a living organism breathing through its vibrant daily artistic and cultural life.
