Sooner or later, many buildings will inevitably be demolished, and each building represents a man-made repository of various materials (non-renewable resources). For decades, demolition has been carried out primarily on the basis of visual assessment on site or sorting at recycling centers. Often, effective sorting of different materials at a later stage is not entirely possible, thus limiting the use of materials for high value-added recycling. At CTU, a number of expert teams are working on various approaches to make the recycling of construction and demolition waste more efficient, and within the EU, a system of so-called pre-demolition audits has been created over the last decade to help prepare a more detailed plan before the demolition itself on how to carry out the demolition or deconstruction so that the materials are recycled as well as possible or, in some cases, reusable. An auxiliary tool for these audits is, if we manage to convert existing buildings into digital models and supplement the models with detailed information on the structural elements and building products contained in the building, with the possibility of subsequently creating overviews of the potential of various materials and using the digital model to make better decisions about how to carry out the deconstruction itself. Add detailed information in advance about materials that may have hazardous properties, etc. As part of a European project led by the Czech Technical University in Prague, one of the options for effective digitization has been created and will be presented in the lecture.
The program is conducted in the Czech language.
