Lecture

Inequality and poverty are among the most pressing global issues. Why is it so difficult to escape poverty? Does financial scarcity create a mental burden which reduces people's ability to work productively, concentrate, and to act patiently? This talk will present new insights about economic and psychological impacts of poverty on preferences and decision-making, and it will illustrate methods for measuring preferences in developing countries.
