The possibility to implement extremely secure communication based on quantum key distribution is known more than 30 years. First European test network based on quantum key distribution was deployed in 2006. How about today? Are quantum networks part of our everyday life? What are the plans of the European Union? What are the risks and limitations of this type of communication? These and more questions will be answered by assoc. prof. Jan Bouda of FI MU, who is the representative of Czech Republic in the European Quantum Communication Initiative (EuroQCI) and who coordinates the deployment in the Czech Republic.
